Benue state COVID-19 index case has refused to take a test for the confirmation of her status after the government refused to give her results of previous tests done.
The government claimed to have done two tests – first one came out positive while the second came out negative – and wants to do the third one for documentation purposes but she refused to submit herself for a test.
Health Minister, Osagie Ehanire, who gave an update on the matter in the daily COVID-19 briefing stated that the ministry has a strong believe that she is negative but her status needs to be documented based on World Health Organization’s guidelines.
“Despite meeting her conditions, the patient was said to have refused to be tested by NCDC as she wanted the test to be taken by WHO and went on to specifically request that the test should be done in the UK
“That seemed to be a very difficult order, and it’s becoming a very odd drama as it was reported to me.
“So, I called her again and I said why have you changed the conditions? She wrote a text to me saying I should consult her lawyer that she has gotten a lawyer,” Ehanire said.
He expressed optimism that the issue would be sorted in no time adding that the patient is in good health.
